1. What is stamp duty WA?

Stamp duty (also known as transfer duty) is a tax on buying property. Depending on the price of the property you’re buying there will be different rates. You’ll be charged a fixed amount as well as a percentage of the property price. These two components determine your stamp duty.

2. How much is house stamp duty WA?

There are five different price brackets your property can fall into and depending on your circumstances you may qualify for an exemption.

$80,001 to $100,000 $1,520 plus 2.85% for every dollar over $100,000
$100,001 to $250,000 $2,090 plus 3.8% for every dollar over $100,000
$250,001 to $500,000 $7,790 plus 4.75% for every dollar over $250,000
$500,001 and over $19,665 plus 5.15% for every dollar over $500,000

3. When do I pay stamp duty in WA?

In Western Australia you must pay stamp duty one month after a duties assessment notice is issued.
